EMDRIA™ members are trained in EMDR therapy and seek the highest standards for the clinical use of EMDR. The organization provides online networking opportunities and Special Interest Groups for its members.
Basic Training
An EMDRIA™ Approved EMDR Basic Training provides clinicians with the foundational knowledge and skills to utilize EMDR therapy, a foundational understanding of case conceptualization and treatment planning, and a baseline to integrate EMDR therapy into their clinical practice.
Minimum training requirements include: 20 hours instructional material, 20 hours supervised practicum and 10 hours consultation.
Certified Therapist™
Mental health clinicians who are fully licensed to engage in private, independent practice and have completed an EMDRIA™ Approved EMDR Basic Training in its entirety are eligible to become an EMDRIA Certified Therapist™.
An EMDRIA Certified Therapist™ credential will be granted for a two-year period. To keep this credential, you will need to renew it every two years.
Approved Consultant™
Current EMDRIA Certified Therapists™ who have successfully completed the online CIT Declaration Form are eligible to begin working towards the EMDRIA Approved Consultant™ credential.
An EMDRIA Approved Consultant™ credential will be granted for a two-year period. To keep this credential, you will need to renew it every two years.
Approved Trainer™
An EMDRIA Approved Trainer™ is an experienced EMDRIA Approved Consultant™ who has completed an extensive application process, submitting training content and materials for review to educate others in EMDR therapy.
An EMDRIA Approved Trainer™ credential will be granted for a two-year period. To keep this credential, you will need to renew it every two years.
